Is this the beginning of the end for a night auditor?!

Well, last night marked the end of my 7th year as a night auditor. Stepping into the new year I'm 85% sure that in a year, at this time I'll be doing something else, somewhere else. Ch-ch-ch-changes time to make a change, ch-ch....well you get my point.

Hopefully by this time next year I'll be off this island. Yes, it's beautiful and all that but really, at the end of the day it's still an island. Change is hard, it's hard to even think about without feeling overwhelmed sometimes. I even try to do the thing where I tell myself, "Change is good, it really is", you know that thing, we've all done it. Where we have to talk ourselves into making a really big change because you know that it's probably a good choice. Then you have to reassure yourself that even if the choice isn't great that you'll be able to make another change that. This is a blog for myself apparently, to reassure myself about the big change that's in the air. I should spew out something poetic like, it's in the air and it's.....blah, blah, blah, to the blah, blah and blah. I'm just not that poetic I guess.

The point is, next year I will not be at this work place. I just dread that I'll end up working at Burger King.....which is of course where I'd end up working right? There's only one on the island and it's 7 hours away and of course I'd end up working at a Burger King on the mainland somewhere, and I'll probably end up living in a box.....working in a Burger King living in a box in an alley probably. I hope my neighbours are nice! I also hope it's a refridgerator box, something with a little space, you know? I'd also prefer if it is next to a plug in and a tap. Now I'm just getting ahead of myself. I've just watched a documentary about homeless people that is invading my thoughts, hence the above. About that though, there was a couple in it who were homeless and had 2 working laptops that they used wireless internet on.....now if I were homeless and had really no money at all, I'd probably sell one, if not both, you know, so I can eat and stuff.

Anyway, this blog entry is running on randomly so I'm going to end it right here by saying, change is good.....right?

Has it really been 7 whole months?

Well, time does fly when you're having fun I suppose, haha. I guess it's finally time for me to continue with this. Hmmm, what has happened in my life in the past 7 months, well I went on that date it was good. We did have a second date that was...interesting, haha. So lets see where to start, where to start?

I don't know if I can tell this story without having it come out all jumbled so keep up. It was near the end of June by the time we had our second date so we decided to have a BBQ, so he came over and I'd told him that I had a dog and that was fine. He wasn't sure if he was allergic to dogs or not and had never petted a dog until he met my dog. Anyway, cutting to the chase, I'm at the counter cutting up mushrooms and he's standing beside me at the sink getting a glass of water (this isn't going to get steamy so relax, haha). I look over and he's taking an allegy pill, you know, just in case. I resume cutting and I look over and he's gagging and hitting his chest....yes....I did try and do the hiemlich (heimlich? I don't care, the spelling isn't the point) and then he died.....hahaha, no he didn't. He did push me away because he wasn't actually choking, he was gagging on the pill that got lodged behind his esophagus (again...spelling isn't the point!!). I told him to take a sip of water then...this action only makes a person gag even more and spit the water out. This didn't go on for 10, 20, or even 30 minutes....this went on for 3 HOURS! We thought it might melt after 3 hours, you know because it's a pill and all that. It didn't melt, so we got in the car to go to the ER (40 minutes away, and yes, this is on our second date, let me remind anyone who's reading this), so we get in the car and I make a comment "Wouldn't it be funny if it just went down when we get halfway there??" to lighten the mood. Now, I kid you not, at the exact halfway point, it goes down, the pill is gone. We pull over at the road sign that indicated that we were exactly halfway, it was that exact. We go back to the house and BBQ...hahaha, what a date!

So after that I'd already had a pre-arranged date with someone else the next weekend. That date was good as well but within 5 minutes of starting the date, the guy runs a stop sign, and we almost get into a serious car accident and he gets a ticket because you know, there was a police car just randomly beside us, haha, it makes for a good story, my little bit of dating experience in the early summer.

Now 7 months later, I am currently in a serious relationship....with the guy who semi-choked on a pill. It's going great, I don't have to have odd dates anymore and he has not choked on a pill with me since (knock on wood!).

What more is there to say in this follow-up? Hmmm, I'm still working the same job, nothing else is new. Life is good, relationship is good, everything is good.

So, I'm going to end this new blog entry right here.

Jeff.

First Date.

Well, tomorrow night is a first date - date. It's weird, I'm weirded out by first dates. It's your standard dinner/movie set up. Hopefully it all goes well, I don't think it could get any more gay though, apparently there's a gay marriage in that movie and hopefully he doesn't take that as a clue....geez, maybe I should suggest we don't go to the movie....except I want to see it so, who cares?

I knew it was coming....

Yes I have done it....I have broken the 9 Minutes In Heaven button on my clock (aka. the snooze button). Yes, we as adults don't play 7 Minutes In Heaven like teenagers do, we desperately play 9 Minutes In Heaven with our alarm clocks. I noticed last night when I woke up that it was acting oddly....but it might've been just me still half asleep. I swear though I pressed it and looked over and it was counting down from 0:59...my clock doesn't have a timer that would do that on it. It was almost like it was saying "59 seconds until I'm not going to be doing this ever again for you." So apparently, I now need a new alarm clock. I've always wondered who the hell came up with 9 minutes....only 9? Why!? I'd never really realized how often I took advantage of that button until it was gone. No joke, I was up 18 minutes earlier tonight!!

In other news, I am off for the weekend after this night. As long as I make it though tonight with coffee and strength but mostly coffee. Hey, come on, I lost 18 minutes of sleep! 18 minutes of sleep is almost the length of time it would take to watch an episode of a sitcom on DVD. So think about that!

One thing you need to know about me is that I equate time to the length of movies/tv shows. It's weird but I do it. For example, if I have 2 hours left to work then I think of a really long movie that I couldn't watch in that amount of time. Most of the time it's Titanic, so I'll think to myself, "Yessss, it's 6am, I've only got 2 hours left.....I couldn't even watch all of Titanic in this amount of time!!!"

Yeah, I never claimed to be fully sane! Hahaha, but I am....most of the time.

A Morning In The Day....Of A Night Auditor

Well it has been a couple days/nights, work has been perfect......wait a second....oh, let me take off my rose coloured glasses for a second, haha. I'm going to try not to use this blog to complain about work though, I'm just happy enough to have a job that's above minimum wage!!

So, I saw on Yahoo! this morning that another "anti-gay" person has been exposed as having an affair-ish sort of deal with a man who is an escort. That's interesting, it's happening everyday though we just don't hear about it unless it's high profile, which is becoming more often lately. People should learn not to shit where they eat otherwise they're going to end up taking it in the ass, in more ways than one. Is there a reason that it's all males though? I don't remember seeing a high profile female being caught in a similar situation?

Ahhh, in other news I'm off soon for the weekend, yessss and I'm going to finish with that.

24 hours later....

Well, this is only my second blog entry on here so I'm still getting the hang of it. I think that there's sooo many buttons and options on this site that it'll take a little while to get the complete hang of. When it comes to pressing some of these buttons, I usually have the kind of luck where I'll press one and BAM! everything disappears. For this reason, I don't use all the buttons on my keyboard, never have, never will. I wonder how many people actually use the little number pad off to the right of the keyboard? I'm not lazy or anything, I'm just a technology minimalist. I want things to be pure simple and not complicated. The only time I've ever pressed any of the "F1-F12" buttons was when I was prompted to do so. I am essentially your grandparent with a computer, except in the body of a 27 year old. Although I'm sure that there's a whole lot of grandparents who're really, really experienced with computers. Hahaha, ok I'm going to express my mental image that I'm having while thinking about grandparents and technology. Let me set it up, I'm picturing a room in a seniors complex, filled with seniors and each and everyone of them is busy clicking away on a blackberry or iphone, hahaha, what can I say? I amuse myself and that's all that matters. For the record I do not own a cellular device in any way, shape or form. The only thing I own that is portable is my ipod, and not one with a screen, an ipod "Shuffle". It was given to me as a gift to replace the DiscMan that until, hmm, 5 years ago, I was still using when walking around or whatever.

To go further into my non-existant use of technology....I have dial-up internet. This is amazing to some people, "They still have that!?!", yes they still have it and I still use it. I'm actually getting offers from the phone company to stop using it, the last offer was a $25.00 giftcard to a grocery store, haha. I'm holding out for $50.00 or a house or something, haha. Hey, if I can get a total monthly internet bill in the form of a giftcard for a grocery store, it evens things out a bit.

Well, this is my second post...I don't know why I decided to come up with a blog really. I'm not all that interesting but I work nights at a hotel and this helps during the down time. My good blog posts are sometimes a flash in the pan but they do happen!

So, for now, time to sign off.

I officially have a real blog!

If you'd told me a few years ago that I would get myself a "blogger" blog, I don't think I would've believed you.

#1. Because back in the day I was very 'anti-blog', I was a person who you might've heard say "I hate that word, 'blog' it's so weird"

#2. Because I already have a MySpace blog that I neglect.

I guess I just wanted something different that was away from typical social networking sites. I didn't want to have to "add friends" that I know, maybe that sounds anti-social but it's not. Also I haven't actually looked this site over so maybe you can add friends? Hmm, I'll look it over after. With all that said, I've also joined because I've read some pretty impressive blogs on here that I wanted to be able to comment on.

Now, there's a start I suppose. I don't even really know what to do here right now, it went right from register directly to blog posting. As if to say "YOU MUST POST RIGHT NOW!", so that's what I did so I think I'll finish this up for now and return later.

Oh and, "Hello my name is Jeff"
